2. Enzyme Discovery

Finding the needle in a haystack. This is the heavy lifting we do in our enzyme discovery service. We take a deep dive into the state of the art and databases and rationally select enzymes from various classes based on the objective. We express and screen the biocatalysts in house to find the one that does what you want. Of course we also take care of assay development, analytics, material procurement and everything else that is needed. Aspects like patent literature and Nagoya protocol are also actively considered in the selection of enzymes in our screening panels. Our integrated service by experts thus helps you to minimize risk in this crucial first step on the way to a successful biocatalytic process.

3. Biocatalytic Route Scouting

Being chemists by training, we consider enzymes as biocatalysts that can enable reactions that are simply impossible to achieve with traditional synthetic chemistry. Their unmatched precision and selectivity allows biocatalysts to dramatically cut short existing chemical syntheses if used right. In fact, some biocatalysts are well compatible with common reagents and solvents, opening up opportunities for innovative hybrid “chemoenzymatic” routes. 6. Enzyme Engineering

Enzymes are tunable catalysts. As such they can be tailored to the conditions required to make for example an active pharmaceutical ingredient with high enantioselectivity or fragrance- and aroma compounds with high product titers. The iterative approach of directed evolution became a standard in the toolbox of biocatalytic process development. Based on the amount of information about a biocatalyst, manifold strategies, approaches and software tools are available to generate better biocatalyst variants. We offer an integrated service of variant library design, expression and screening including assay development to improve your biocatalyst of choice.

7. First upscales

We offer expert support in the critical transition from analytical-scale reactions (<1 mL) to preparative-scale (up to 100 mL), enabling early assessment of process scalability. Our service includes careful optimization of reaction conditions for larger volumes, along with optional initial investigations into product isolation and purification strategies. We focus on maintaining performance while addressing challenges like solubility, mixing, reagent addition and workup.
